Learn about funding for arts projects

KOKOMO, IN—Howard and Tipton schools and arts groups are encouraged learn about grants for art projects on Monday, February 19, at Indiana University Kokomo. Rose Burch of the Tippecanoe Arts Federation (TAF) will discuss how to apply for grants from the TAF and the Indiana Arts Commission. Grant applications will be available at the 6:30 p.m. meeting in the Kelley Student Center, Room KC130B.
Walk-ins are welcome, however, due to space constraints, reservations are encouraged. Call TAF at (800) 721-2787.
TAF is the IAC Region IV Arts Partner serving Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren and White counties. Mini-grants, arts project and arts operating support grants are available for arts projects and activities that will take place between July 1, 2007, and June 30, 2008.
Non-profit organizations and schools in Region IV counties may apply for grants. Applicants may request funding for dance, music, theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, folk/traditional arts, interdisciplinary, or multidisciplinary projects. Applications must be submitted by March 23, 2007, in order to be considered for funding.
Last year, Region IV awarded 27 grants in 9 counties, totaling $111,823. Tipton County applicants for mini-grant funding will be given a waiver of the matching funds requirement this year to encourage participation in the grant program.

Grant monies are made available from the Indiana Arts Commission, funded by the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding for mini-grants comes from the Tippecanoe Arts Federation and Eli Lilly and Company.
Indiana University Kokomo is located west of U.S. 31 on the south side of Kokomo, Ind. From U.S. 31, turn west on Lincoln Road. Take Lincoln to Washington Street and turn right (north). The campus is on the east side Washington. Turn into first drive to reach the visitor parking, open to those without an IU parking pass.
