February 11, 2008
Indiana University Kokomo has been chosen once again as a nominating site for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship Program. IU Kokomo students interested in this scholarship must submit their scholarship application to the IU Kokomo faculty representative Niranjan Pati, Ph.D., dean and professor of the School of Business by February 18, 2008. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation will award approximately 40 scholarships nationwide that total as much as $50,000 per year up to six years ($300,000) to seniors and recent graduates planning to attend their first graduate or professional degree program in the fall of 2008. Receiving approximately 1,000 nominations for each program, these scholarships are among the largest and most competitive in the country.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is a private and independent foundation established in 2000 through the will of Jack Kent Cook who believed education was a lifelong pursuit. He was a passionate student who loved to learn and was knowledgeable in fields as diverse as literature, music, sports, and architecture. The Foundation’s mission is to help young people who have shown exceptional promise, application, deportment, and character, have demonstrated a financial need, and have exhibited excellence in academic endeavors and extracurricular activities.
Applying Foundation criteria, which includes a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent), the expert selection committee members, including college professors and admissions officers, rigorously evaluate each Scholar's application. The foundation will not accept applications directly from students.
March 14, 2008 is the application deadline for the 2008 competition. Please note that our Campus deadline is set for February 18, 2008. Interested students can contact Dr. Pati at 765 455-9275 or by e-mail at npati@iuk.edu.
