Dean Niranjan Pati of IU Kokomo Receives Distinguished Hoosier Award

The office of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels awarded IU Kokomo Dean of the School of Business, Niranjan Pati, Ph. D., the Distinguished Hoosier Award on December 5, 2007. This is one of the highest awards given by the state of Indiana to its citizens who have excelled in their fields. Pati, who received his Ph.D. and Master’s degrees from Northwestern University, has been Dean of the School of Business and Professor since 2001. Pati previously was at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and served there as chairperson of the Department of Management.
Under his leadership, IU Kokomo’s business programs have earned national recognition in active and experiential learning. The School has appeared three consecutive years in The Princeton Review’s Best Business School editions. He serves on several regional, state-wide, national, and international steering committees and think-tank groups engaged in enhancing economic, educational, and cultural attainment.
Prior to joining Northwestern University on a scholarship for graduate studies, Pati completed a master’s degree in industrial engineering and operations research from the Indian Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree with distinction in production engineering from Ranchi University in India where he was a National Scholar. Pati has been published in numerous professional journals and has given several national and international conference presentations.
Before starting his career in education at Northwestern University, Pati was in the business sector as a project manager for a large public company in India.
