KOKOMO, Ind.—The annual Nightingale Dinner at IU Kokomo celebrates alumni and future graduates of the School of Nursing. The 2004 dinner will be held on Thursday, March 11, at 6 p.m. in Room 130 of the Kelley Student Center. RSVPs are requested by February 20 to Sylvia Mason, (765) 455-9288 or smason@iuk.edu. Guests and other interested parties will be asked to “sponsor” the purchase of books, to bolster nursing-related holdings of the IU Kokomo Library. “We have created a master ‘wish list’ of books recommended for university libraries,” said Dean Penny Cass, Ph.D. The list can be seen at the school’s Web site, www.iuk.edu/nursing, and will be available during the Nightingale Dinner. Patrons can choose to “sponsor” a specific book, by donating toward its purchase costs. A bookplate identifying the gift will be placed in the book. Persons can also contribute funds to the School of Nursing to purchase books in a content area that may be short on resources. Joanne Rains Warner, D.S.N., R.N. will be guest speaker at the Nightingale Dinner. The associate dean for graduate programs at the IU School of Nursing, Indianapolis, Warner has served as a U.S. Public Health Service primary care policy fellow. Her research interests include community-based participatory action projects, and political socialization and competence.
