KOKOMO, Ind.—Cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be awarded in the IU Kokomo Art Gallery's Biennial Regional Exhibition, February 27–March 27. Artists living within 70 miles of Kokomo may enter up to two original works in painting, drawing, graphic arts, photography, mixed media, clay, glass, or sculpture. Entry deadline is January 31. The Biennial Regional Exhibition has become one of Indiana's most competitive and prestigious juried exhibitions, according to gallery director Minda Douglas. “The 2003 exhibit received more than 250 entries and was a fabulous display of cutting-edge contemporary work,” she said. The 70 works selected for exhibition were created by artists living in 23 Indiana communities. Scott Anderson, a Ball State University assistant professor of art in painting and drawing, will serve as juror, selecting works for the 2005 show. Anderson received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech University and his Master of Fine Arts degree from West Virginia University. He has been exhibiting art professionally for the past 20 years. Submitted works must have been completed within the last two years. Artists whose works are accepted for the exhibition may offer their art for sale during the show, with the Gallery retaining 30 percent of the sale price. To receive an application form detailing entry, delivery, selection, and exhibition information, contact the IU Kokomo Art Gallery at (765) 455-9523. Application can also be made online at www.iuk.edu/artgallery.
