Higher Learning Commission to evaluate Indiana University Kokomo, Public comments sought for accreditation
January 14, 2009
Kokomo, Indiana – The IU Kokomo campus will undergo a comprehensive evaluation this spring from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This accreditation process takes place every 10 years, and campus officials have spent nearly 12 months preparing for this assessment.
Taking on the theme, “The Journey from Good to Great”, a self-study report has been created, published, and submitted to the HLC in preparation for the April 6-8, 2009, visit. This report includes information on the history of the campus, accomplishments, and its mission and vision for the future.
The HLC will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation. The HLC accredits and grants membership in the Commission and in the North Central Association to degree-granting educational institutions in the North Central region.
In addition, the public is invited to submit comments regarding the campus in preparation for the evaluation. Comments must be received by March 3, 2009, and address substantive matters related to the quality of IU Kokomo or its academic programs. Remarks must be in writing, signed, and cannot be treated as confidential. All statements should be sent to:
