KOKOMO, Ind.—Director for IU Kokomo’s Masters of Business Administration program Kathy Parkison, Ph.D., has been selected as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS). After training in early spring 2004, Parkison will work with a team of reviewers, traveling to other campuses and observing educational practices and materials. The team then makes recommendations to the schools and the NCACS, an institutional accrediting agency. “I am very excited about this opportunity,” Parkison said. “My thanks go to Chancellor Ruth Person, who nominated me, and all who wrote letters in support of my nomination.” Parkison is also an associate professor of economics with the IU Kokomo School of Business, and directs the campus’ Center for Economic Education. As Sam M.Walton Free Enterprise Fellows, Parkison and Business Undergraduate Advisor Joan Hoch advise the Students In Free Enterprise team.
She is the third peer reviewer named from IU Kokomo this year. Earlier, the NCACS recruited Dean of the School of Nursing Penny Cass, Ph.D., and Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Bill Yost as reviewers. They join Chancellor Ruth Person, who was already serving in that capacity.
