Faculty promotions, Trustees' Teaching Awards announced

KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana University’s Board of Trustees has promoted three IU Kokomo faculty members. They are: • Michael Finkler, Ph.D., promoted with tenure to associate professor of biology. With IU Kokomo since 1998, Finkler teaches cell, human and animal physiology and is a full member of the Indiana University Graduate Faculty. He is an academic advisor for several Allied Health concentrations and for the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program. • Dianne Roden, Ph.D., promoted to full professor of finance. In her 12th year of teaching at IU Kokomo, Roden instructs undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, statistics, investments and financial management. She is a full member of the Indiana University Graduate Faculty. • John Minor Ross, Ph.D., promoted to full professor of computer information systems. Ross came to IU Kokomo in 1986 and is a full member of the Indiana University Graduate Faculty. He teaches multimedia, current directions in information systems and object-oriented programming in C++®, Java® and VisualBasic.NET®. Roden and Ross achieved tenure previously. Trustees’ Teaching Awards Dianne Roden and Michael Finkler were among the six Indiana University Kokomo faculty members recently named to receive IU Trustees’ Teaching Awards for 2004. The annual awards recognize excellence in teaching; academic chairs or deans nominate award candidates. Other recipients of the Trustees’ Teaching Awards include: • Angela Becker, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology • Lucinda Ison, M.S., lecturer in music • Gail MacKay, M.L.S., associate librarian • Margo Sorgman, Ed.D., professor of education Award winners each receive $2,500 from Indiana University. They will be recognized during the campus’ fall convocation.
