IU Alumni Golf Outing Begins at Noon on June 17
June 13, 2008
The 2008 IU Alumni Golf Outing will be held on June 17 at Chippendale Golf Course. Check-in and lunch begin at noon, as does a golf clinic with IU Women’s Coach Clint Wallman. The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. The entry fee of $50 for IUAA members and $65 for non-members includes a box lunch, golf cart, 18 holes of golf, two beverage tickets, a team photo, and tournament prizes which will be awarded immediately following the tournament. Sign up as a foursome or as an individual. Proceeds benefit the IU Kokomo Alumni Association Student Scholarships. Lauren Giesecke and Amber Lindgren, two local IU students who are members of the IU Women’s Golf Team, plan to play in the tournament.
Giesecke, a freshman at IU Bloomington, received her letter jacket at the team dinner in May. While a student at Northwestern High School, Lauren earned four letters in golf and helped lead the Tigers to the Mid-Indiana Conference championship in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Lindgren, a sophomore at IU Bloomington, received her letter, the Cream and Crimson Cup, the Hoosier Heart award, and the Coaches Award at the dinner. She was a four-time letter-winner at Western High School, was named second team All-America by the Future Collegiate World Tour in 2004, was named team MVP in 2004, and led the squad to four regional championships in each of her seasons at Western as well as helping her team to a state championship in 2001.
