KOKOMO, Ind.—IU Kokomo’s School of Arts and Sciences will share information about its new Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (M.L.S.) degree program, during an open house Thursday, March 27. Faculty will be present from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the Havens Room in the Main Building to answer questions about the program, the first graduate degree offered by the School of Arts and Sciences. M.L.S. courses will start in fall 2003; the deadline for fall admission is April 15. “The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies provides students with the opportunity to take an individualized program of graduate courses and interdisciplinary core seminars in a variety of disciplines in the arts and sciences,” said Sue Sciame-Giesecke, Ph.D., interim dean of the School. “The program appeals to students whose careers will be enhanced by a graduate credential, or to those individuals who want a challenging program of study for personal fulfillment.” Applicants to the M.L.S. program must have earned a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree from an accredited college or university, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students who do not meet the GPA requirement can be admitted provisionally upon recommendation by the M.L.S. committee. “We welcome all prospective students to the open house to hear more about the program, receive assistance in making application and meet the faculty,” said Sciame-Giesecke.
