KOKOMO, Ind.—The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has appointed Penny Cass, Ph.D., dean of the IU Kokomo School of Nursing, and Bill Yost, vice chancellor for Administration and Finance, to be consultant/evaluators. They will conduct peer reviews of the institutional effectiveness of programs at other colleges and universities. Cass will review two institutions a year for the association, starting in the fall. Following training in April, Yost will be assigned to review business applications at other institutions. IU Kokomo Chancellor Ruth Person is also an NCACS consultant/evaluator. The Association is one of six regional institutional-accrediting associations in the United States. Through its commissions, it accredits, and thereby grants membership to, educational institutions in 19 states.
According to the NCACA Web site, consultant/evaluators “provide advice and counsel for institutional improvement, and recommend accrediting actions to the Commission.”
