  Spring non-credit courses boost creativity, computer and corporate skills

Indiana University Kokomo is offering numerous courses beginning in April through its Division of Continuing Studies that will allow individuals to explore their creative side by learning creativity or kicking up their heals ballroom dancing, improve their computer skills with a variety of Excel® courses and revitalize an organization through the Board Development course. Calligraphy for Beginners
If you have always wanted to learn the beautiful art of fine handwriting, this class is for you. This course is an introduction to technical hand-lettering. Learn to design elegant, impressive, personalized invitations, place cards and stationery for fun and profit.

The Hiring Process
This course will study the selection process for hiring new employees, résumé and cover letter review, and the recruitment process.

Studio Lighting
Students will learn about natural portrait lighting techniques, how to measure and modify light using reflectors and diffusers and how to mix flash and available light.

Excel® Intermediate
Take yourself to the next level with Microsoft Excel® Intermediate. Work with multiple worksheets and workbooks. Learn how to customize Excel’s toolbars and menus. Use the advanced charting and formatting features. Book required.

Power Yoga
Improve flexibility, balance and strength. Poses move quickly and flow together, offering a light cardio-pulmonary workout. Increases body awareness and tones all muscles, leaving you feeling rejuvenated. Students are asked to bring a towel and exercise mat to each class. It is recommended that students do not consume food 1–2 hours prior to class. Dress comfortably to accommodate ease of body movement.

Fashion Design with Photoshop®
This is a hands-on course to enhance your skills in designing textiles on the computer. Learn Photoshop® basics such as using the tool bar and palettes. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and an understanding of Windows.

Board Development
Get the board involved and keep them involved. This workshop will discuss responsibilities, recruitment, training and tasking of board members. A review of cases and discussion of participant situations will be included. Board members, staff and volunteers should attend together.

Ballroom Dancing
This class offers a general overview of all major ballroom and Latin dances including swing, salsa, tango, and waltz. Students will leave having at least a basic knowledge of partner dancing and the ability to dance to almost any type of music. No partner is needed to take the class.

Excel® Advanced
Continue to build on basic and intermediate Excel® skills. Some topics covered are lookup tables, data tables and pivot tables, advanced list management, exporting/importing from external files and goal seeking and solver tools to make predictive decisions on existing and historical data, along with an introduction to macros. Book required.
