  McGovern articles on globalization published

March 3, 2005

KOKOMO, Ind.—Two articles written by Indiana University Kokomo Associate Professor of Sociology Ligaya McGovern, Ph.D., have been accepted for publication. The journal Critical Asian Studies printed McGovern's piece “Alienation and Labor Export in the Context of Globalization: Filipino Migrant Domestic Workers in Taiwan and Hong Kong.”

Her article “Transnational Feminism and Globalization: Bringing Third World Women's Voices from the Margin to the Center” appears in the book Critical Globalization Studies, edited by University of California professors Richard P. Appelbaum and William I. Robinson. The book is produced by Oxford University Press, Routledge, Great Britain.

A publisher's synopsis describes the book as follows: “Critical Globalization Studies collects the work of dozens of the most innovative globalization scholars to provide a uniquely challenging reader on this massive subject. Weaving together novel theoretical insights about the subject with accounts of globalization's empirical impact on nations and regions across the world, the contributors prioritize social justice and engagement with ordinary people over top-down accounts that focus only on powerful political actors and big business.”
