KOKOMO, Ind.—Jim Stanley, president of Duke Energy, Indiana’s largest electric supplier, will be a guest speaker at Indiana University Kokomo on Wednesday, April 11. The public is invited to hear Stanley’s 5:30 p.m. address in Kresge Auditorium, part of the School of Business’s Leadership Lecture series.

Stanley will discuss leadership strategies that define and promote socially responsible businesses. Having the top executive of an energy company address this topic is especially appropriate and timely, said Business Dean Niranjan Pati, Ph.D. “This sector faces serious challenges in terms of meeting the environmental standards while maximizing shareholders’ values.”

Duke Energy Indiana provides electric service to more than 760,000 customers in 69 of Indiana’s 92 counties.

Stanley’s 28-year career with PSI Energy, Cinergy, and Duke Energy has included includes assignments ranging from accounting and human resources to field management. Before being named president of Duke in November 2006, Stanley served as vice president of the company’s Midwest field operations. He oversaw transmission and distribution and maintenance, substation construction and maintenance, customer service engineering, and electric outage response.

IU Kokomo’s Business Relations Alumni Council (BARC) will meet immediately after Stanley’s talk for a 6:50–7:50 p.m. networking session. All IU business alumni are invited to participate. For more information on the council, visit www.iuk.edu/~kobus/BusinessAlumniRelationsCouncil.
