March 26, 2009

KOKOMO, Ind. –Learn the art of the “grip and grin,” as well as other useful tips for any professional situation, at the upcoming etiquette dinner and reception during the New Professionals Conference. The event will take place on Thursday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m. in Kelly Student Center, room 130.

A two-person team of professional etiquette facilitators will lead the conference, which will include a reception and a four-course meal. In addition, there will be two conference-style sessions where discussion will focus on successful interviewing and budgeting and salary negotiations.

“We want to give students an edge in interviewing skills,” said Cathy Valcke, director of alumni relations at IU Kokomo.

The event is designed to teach students skills that will allow them to interact in social/business situations by providing them real-world experiences that will be invaluable in their future professional lives.
