SIFE alumni invited to view competition rehearsal May 17, 2005
	KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana University Kokomo will celebrate its Students In Free Enterprise chapter's 10th anniversary Thursday, May 19. At 7 p.m., past chapter members and the public are invited to watch current SIFE members in a dress rehearsal of a presentation with which they hope to win national honors next week. The rehearsal will be held in Kresge Auditorium. After the rehearsal, previous SIFE members can gather with former classmates and School of Business faculty members. SIFE boasts “many successful alumni in our community,” said chapter advisor Kathy Parkison, Ph.D. “This year marks the fifth consecutive time that IU Kokomo students have qualified for national SIFE competitions. We hope alumni will come, listen to the presentation, and ask questions to help sharpen the students' delivery and content,” she said. The presentation covers community outreach projects that SIFE members undertook during the 2004-2005 academic year. Based on the quality of those projects and their summary report, the IU Kokomo team was named a SIFE USA Regional Champion in April. The local team will compete against winners from 21 regional tournaments at the SIFE USA National Exposition May 23 in Kansas City, Mo. Ohls obtains $1,000 grant for SIFE SIFE recently honored member Chris Ohls of Greentown, who secured a $1,000 grant for SIFE operations from the Kokomo Wal-Mart® Supercenter. An associate in the store's electronics department, Ohls said the Wal-Mart® Foundation makes grant funds available to each store site, for use by associates involved in community enrichment projects. “It's a way of giving back to the community,” he said. Ohls thanked Assistant Manager Pam Rardin for her help in completing the grant application.
