Kokomo, Peru, Marion seniors ready for art exhibit

May 4, 2006

KOKOMO, Ind.—Student artists from Kokomo Center, Peru, and Marion high schools will submit work for the 11th Annual High School Exhibition at the Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery. Seniors in high schools from throughout IU Kokomo’s 11-county service areas have been invited to participate in the show, on display from May 14–June 18.

Art Gallery Director Gregory Steel said the following art teachers have confirmed that they will send top works by their senior students for the exhibition:

Kokomo Center High School: Teachers Debra Edwards, Jeremy Carpenter, Richard Evans, and Karen Faust.

Peru High School: Teachers Mike Applegate and Maggie Price.

Marion High School: Teachers Diana Seelig, Jan McCune, Randy Gunyon, and Debbi Shepler.

“As in the past, the Gallery hopes to display art created by students from close to a dozen area schools, as well as by home-schooled students,” Steel said. “Teachers guide these young artists in trying out a great number of media—from painting and sculpture to computer graphics and photography—so the High School Exhibition is always an exciting mix of work and talents.”

All exhibitions and programs of the IU Kokomo Art Gallery are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; Wednesdays, until 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays, noon–4 p.m. For more information on this or other exhibits, visit http://www.iuk.edu/gallery or call (765) 455-9523.
