Gallery honors high school artists

KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery presented 15 awards at the opening of its
Annual High School Exhibition on May 15. Seniors from Kokomo, Peru, Marion, and Western high schools submitted two- and three-dimensional works for the exhibition, which runs through June 18.
The following participants received cash awards:
Chancellor’s Award: Jessica Dunn, Kokomo High School, for an oil painting, Nate on a Summer Day
Dean’s Award: Jenna Geyer, Peru High School, for a china marker drawing, Reflections
Director’s Choice Award: Abby Baker, Marion High School, for a computer graphic, Ashe Woods
New Media Award: Ashley De Witt, Kokomo High School, for an untitled scanogram/computer graphic
Painting Award: Kyle Miller, Peru High School, for an acrylic painting, Heeeeeeeeyy
Drawing Award: Virgil Clary, Peru High School, for a pencil drawing, Self-Portrait
Sculpture Award: Alyssa Curfman, Marion High School, for a ceramic piece, Feet
Mixed Media Award: Lisa Flores, Peru High School, for an acrylic and mixed media piece, My Brainchild
Craft Award: Caitlin Bragg, Marion High School, for a necklace made of copper tubing and a cabochon
Honorable Mention Awards: Kyle Brewer, Peru High School, for a wood piece, Whispers of Rebellion; Lauren Dixon, Kokomo High School, for an untitled ceramic pot; Kendra Hack, Peru High School, for a computer graphic Erin’s Senior Year; Aaron Jones, Peru High School, for a watercolor, The All Seeing; Tom Steiner, Western High School, two awards for an untitled acrylic painting and for an untitled oil pastel.
All exhibitions and programs of the IU Kokomo Art Gallery are free and open to the public.
