Elementary Art Exhibition opens November 21

KOKOMO, Ind.---Artwork by students from nine Howard County elementary schools will be on display November 21--December 12 at the Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery. Admission is free. The students and their art teachers will be honored during the opening reception on Sunday, November 21, from 2--4 p.m. Participating schools and teachers include Washington Elementary and Boulevard Elementary---Nancy Williams Howard Elementary---Jane Sisk Wallace Elementary and Pettit Park Elementary---Melissa Herr Columbian Elementary and Elwood Haynes Elementary---Teresa Streza Darrough Chapel Elementary and Sycamore Elementary---Linda Heinrich Titled Young Visions, the exhibition is the ninth showing of elementary school art at the Gallery. "The Annual Elementary Exhibition is a great opportunity for our local youth to participate in an art display in a professional gallery," said Gallery Director Minda Douglas. "When the parents and grandparents visit the show, they are exposed to the IU Kokomo Art GalleryÕs diverse exhibition schedule. Young visitors can also paint on a progressive on-site mural throughout the exhibition. We hope they all will continue to visit the Gallery to experience the full array of all that we offer." Douglas encouraged schools to bring classes to tour the exhibit; contact Douglas at (765) 455-9523 for appointments. The IU Kokomo Art Gallery is located inside the Kelley Student Center.
