KOKOMO, Ind.—The Indiana University Kokomo chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma has been recognized as an Exemplary Chapter, noting its success in recruiting top business students into the society during the past academic year. With Exemplary Chapter status, the chapter is eligible to award a $1,000 Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship in the 2005–2006 academic year. Of the 417 Beta Gamma Sigma chapters currently established on college and university campuses, only 52 were recognized as Exemplary Chapters in 2004. IU Kokomo’s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter was established in 2002. The award is “a significant accomplishment for a new chapter like ours,” said School of Business Dean Niranjan Pati, Ph.D. “I congratulate the faculty and students who helped us earn the award.” Criteria for awarding the Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship will be decided this spring by a faculty committee, Pati said. Beta Gamma Sigma is the honor society for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. “Lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest achievement available to business students anywhere in the world, and is extended to the upper 7 percent of juniors, the top 10 percent of seniors, and the upper 20 percent of graduate students,” Pati said.
