Workshop looks at parent-teacher meetings

KOKOMO, Ind.—Get the most out of parent-teacher conferences with suggestions from retired Maconaquah High School principal Becky Westlake. IU Kokomo's student organization EdSAC (Educational Student Advisory Committee) has invited Westlake to discuss effective approaches to parent-teacher conference during a free workshop Monday, November 14. The public is invited to attend the workshop from 1–2:15 p.m. in the Kelley Student Center, Room 221.

EdSAC President Elizabeth Hall said Westlake's advice could be helpful to parents and educators of students at all grade levels “Ms. Westlake's primary focus will be geared to the elementary level because that is her background,” Hall said. Students of IU Kokomo's Division of Education who attend the workshop can receive certificates of participation for their professional portfolios, Hall added.

An elementary education major from Michigantown, Hall anticipates completing her degree coursework in December 2006.
