Eight bands play for Hurricane Relief Concert

November 10, 2005

KOKOMO, Ind.—Do you like hard rock, heavy metal rock, or Christian rock? Or, are acoustic or alternative sounds on your iPod®? The six-hour Hurricane Relief Concert '05 at Indiana University Kokomo on Saturday, November 19, has got you covered, with eight local bands performing from 3–9 p.m.

A $5 donation admits concertgoers to the concert site, Kresge Auditorium. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross, to benefit victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Scheduled bands include

• Life Broken (Christian/Pop/Punk)

• Jer Gregg (Acoustic/Electric/Rock)

• Sun Crusher (Alternative/Pop/Rock)

• Freeba Road (Modern/Classic Rock)

• Fighter Down (Hard Core/Punk/Metal)

• Still Searching (Alternative/Hard Rock)

• Rotovox (Hard/Groove Rock)

• Offering By Fire (Christian/Hard Core/Metal)

The bands are donating their performances for the benefit concert, coordinated by the IU Kokomo Student Union Board (S.U.B.).

“Just because we aren't hearing about hurricanes any more on the news doesn't mean that people aren't still hurting from Katrina and Rita,” said S.U.B. president Michael Glassburn. “Local Red Cross officials tell us that donations are still needed to help hurricane victims rebuild their lives. By holding this concert, S.U.B. wants to raise awareness of, as well as donations for, fellow Americans in need.”

Glassburn, a communication arts major from Elwood, is the bassist for the band Freeba Road. Other local students performing on November 19 include Jimmy Ashbaugh of Tipton, the drummer for Still Searching, and Adam McDorman of Kokomo, the bassist for Offering By Fire. Ashbaugh is studying in IU Kokomo University Division. McDorman is majoring in computer technology at Purdue University College of Technology Kokomo.
