IUK Singers present songs of the season

KOKOMO, Ind.—IUK Singers will present holiday music from the movies, as well as traditional carols and gospel songs, in their Winter Concert, Friday, December 2, in Kresge Auditorium at Indiana University Kokomo. Admission to the 7 p.m. concert is free. Non-perishable food donations will be accepted for the women’s crisis center in Kokomo.
Derek Bishop of Russiaville, a student in the University Division program, will direct the chorus in the singing of the Christopher Cross Trilogy. Soloists for the evening include Josh Sommers, a communications arts major from Kokomo; Scott Davis, a business major from Marion; and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Stuart Green.
The audience will be invited to play a game of “What Christmas Movie Featured This Song?” Santa Claus is also expected to drop by during the evening.
Musical selections will include the chorus “And the Glory of the Lord” from Handel’s Messiah, “Ave Maria,” “Song for a Russian Child,” “Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho,” and a medley of popular songs written by Irving Berlin.
