IU Kokomo Student Organization Hosts Benefit for Ambassadors for Children

November 9, 2007

Kokomo, Indiana—Children: The Best Gift of All will be the theme of the evening on Friday, November 16, at 6:30 p.m., in the Kelley Student Center room KC130, when Abriendo Puertas hosts a dinner and silent auction to benefit children through the humanitarian programs and projects of Ambassadors for Children (AFC), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving children around the world. Abriendo Puertas (Opening Doors) is a student organization on the Indiana University Kokomo Campus that is combining efforts from Nursing and Spanish majors and functioning as a chapter of AFC. Receiving no government funding AFC, in operation since 1998, has assisted over 75,000 children worldwide through over 100 humanitarian trips and has distributed over 4 million dollars in aid.

Abriendo Puertas means opening doors, and that is what its student members are doing. They are opening doors to the future by getting involved and helping to solve today’s global problems in practical and meaningful ways. Their support of AFC through their cooperative efforts as an IU Kokomo student organization will help AFC make a significant impact on world peace and understanding through face-to-face cultural exchanges. The ticket cost is $25.00, which includes the cost of the dinner, $13.50, and the fundraising (tax deductible) amount, $11.50. Children are the future and the best gift of all.
