8:30 a.m.
11:30 a.m.
8:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Reeta Piirala-Skoglund, a finance and economics major who works in the IU Kokomo Office of Campus Climate, secured a $295 grant from the organization Indiana Campus Compact to underwrite the alcohol awareness activities. “Some people on campus have personal experiences with the misuse of alcohol [by others] affecting their lives. That’s what the 8:30 a.m. discussion will cover,” she said. “But, it’s not all serious. We’re doing fun stuff, too, giving people alternatives,” she added. “The pledge students will be asked to sign doesn’t say ‘I won’t drink.’ It says, ‘I won’t drink and drive.’ ” For more information on the IU Kokomo alcohol awareness programs, contact Piirala-Skoglund at (765) 455-9491 or rpiirala@iuk.edu.
