KOKOMO, Ind.—Research projects completed by 10 IU Kokomo students will be on display in a campus symposium on November 10. Running from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. in Room 130 of the Kelley Student Center, the Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI) Symposium presentation will employ a “poster-session” format. Visitors can review the research projects and discuss points of interest with the URSI teams.

Each student team received a $500 grant from Indiana University to conduct their research over a 10-week period this past summer. Faculty mentors to each team received an additional $500 grant from IU Kokomo.

Symposium presentations will include:

“Investigation of Bacterial Clearance in Snapping Turtle Eggs: Correlations with Developmental Stages”
By Trent Miller of Kokomo (majoring in biology) and Christina Zimpleman of Kokomo (allied health). Mentor Michael Finkler, Ph.D.

“The Relationship Between Eating Disorders and Media Exposure: Does the Type of Media Exposure Play a Role?”
By Brooke Clevenger of Kokomo (psychology). Mentor Kathyrn Holcomb, Ph.D.

“Photo-electrochemical Studies on Surface Modified Electrodes with Immobilized Redox Centers”
By Ty Woodhouse of Kokomo (computer information systems). Mentor Kasem K. Kasem, Ph.D.

“Analyzing Data for Mathematical Modeling”
