KOKOMO, Ind.---For the 25th consecutive year, economics experts from Indiana University will present their annual forecast of business, trade and employment conditions Wednesday, November 10, at IU Kokomo. The IU Kokomo School of Business will host the Business Outlook and Public Policy Panel, starting at 7:30 a.m. in the Kelley Student Center, Room 130 AC. School of Business Dean Niranjan Pati, Ph.D., predicted a very interesting discussion, in light of the Outlook falling one week after the presidential elections. "I expect that these economists will try to unravel some of the twists and turns that local, state, national and international economies will be making, depending on the outcomes of the election," Pati said. "As I have seen over the years, the panel provides a balanced forecast---neither a sanguine nor a doom-and-gloom portrayal of the economic future. Moderator Morton Marcus's analysis, as usual, will provide the spice to make the panel discussion interesting and down-to-earth." Marcus directed the Kelley School of Business' Indiana Business Research Center in Bloomington for 18 years, before retiring in 2003. Current director Jerry Conover will be part of the 2004 Business Outlook panel. Other panelists will include IU Kokomo Associate Professor of Economics Kathy Parkison, Ph.D., as well as faculty members of the Kelley School of Business: Andreas Hauskrecht, Ph.D., assistant professor of business economics and public policy; Phillip T. Powell, Ph.D., associate professor of business and public policy; and Robert S. Neal, Ph.D., associate professor of finance. "This is a landmark event for the School of Business to have hosted the panel, without interruption, for the last 25 years to enrich our businesses and their leaders in north central Indiana," Pati said. "I urge the community to take advantage of the wisdom espoused by this distinguished economic outlook panel." The Economic Outlook Panel is sponsored by the IU Kokomo School of Business, the Kelley School of Business, the IU Alumni Club of Howard-Tipton Counties, the IU Kokomo Alumni Association, Kokomo-Howard County Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Kokomo. Admission is $12. Advanced registration is required by November 3. Contact (765) 455-9465 or (765) 455-9275.
