Have monstrous fun at Halloween Open House

October 13, 2006

KOKOMO, Ind.—On Friday, October 27, Indiana University Kokomo will show the movie Monster House, during its monstrously fun Halloween Open House, running from 6–8 p.m. in Kelley Student Center

Youngsters ages 10 and under can enjoy wrapped treats, face painting, and games sponsored by numerous student and campus organizations. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Open house admission is $1 per child.

Monster House will be shown in Kresge Auditorium at 5:30 and 7:15 p.m. The animated film tells the tale of youngsters who battle a creepy house in their neighborhood that seems to be alive. Running 91 minutes long, the film is rated PG.

“I love this event because it gives us college students a chance to act like kids and to give back to the community,” said Mike Glassburn. A communication arts major from Alexandria, Glassburn directs the Student Union Board (S.U.B.), which is coordinating the 16th annual open house. Event chair and S.U.B. officer Nick Smith said hundreds of families attend the Halloween Open House as a holiday tradition, and some adults even dress up. “The kids love being around each other in costumes, and their parents appreciate being able to trick-or-treat indoors in a safe environment,” he said. Smith is a pre-pharmacy major from Kokomo.
