The 11th Annual IU vs. Purdue Blood Donor Challenge is Underway

October 1, 2007

Kokomo, IN—Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, and each blood donation has the potential of saving up to three lives. Give the gift of life and help IU win this year’s Challenge.

The 11th annual IU vs. Purdue Blood Donor Challenge is underway. The Battle for Blood is ON! Sponsored by the Indiana and Purdue Alumni Associations, this friendly competition takes place from October 1 through November 9, 2007. Recognition will be given to the winning university at the Old Oaken Bucket football game on November 17 in Memorial Stadium. IU won the Challenge last year with a record 8,595 participants. We need your help to ensure that IU wins the 2007 Challenge as well!

The IU Kokomo Alumni Association and the American Red Cross are sponsoring a blood drive to benefit the Challenge: Tuesday, October 23, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Kelley Student Center in room 130 on the IU Kokomo campus. All IU alumni and friends are invited to donate during this blood drive. If you are unable to participate on October 23, please, consider stopping by any Indiana Blood Center during the Challenge to donate; just be sure to tell them you are donating for IU!

To schedule your donation appointment, please call (765) 455-9411 or e-mail alumni@iuk.edu . You may also schedule an appointment by going to the American Red Cross E-donor site at: www.givelife.org. Once you get to the Red Cross site, enter our sponsor code: IU Kokomo (no spaces!), and you will be directed to an area where you can view available appointment times and schedule your donation appointment.

Indiana University Kokomo serves an 11 county area in north central Indiana. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four master’s degrees.
