Make a Scarecrow
October 5, 2007
KOKOMO, Ind.—The IU Kokomo Staff Council will help you scare up some old-fashioned family fun Saturday, October 6, with their “Make Your Own Scarecrow” project. From 10 a.m.–4 p.m., council volunteers will offer the activity at Farlow’s Orchard, 6850 W. 250S, Russiaville (northwest of Western Schools, off S.R. 26).
For $10, participants will receive clothing, accessories, and hay stuffing to create a life-size scarecrow, plus guidance from council members. Depending on the age of children involved, putting together a scarecrow should take roughly 20-30 minutes, said council president Cathy Archer. “Your scarecrow can have a traditional country look or be formal, glamorous, monstrous—whatever you like. The whole family can participate in building a festive fall decoration for your yard or front porch.”
Proceeds will benefit the IU Kokomo Staff council’s causes of student scholarships and campus improvements. For more information, call 765-455-9552.
