18th Annual Arts and Crafts fair coming to Indiana University Kokomo

October 22, 2009

Kokomo, Ind. – Early Christmas shoppers can beat the crowd this coming holiday season by shopping the 18th Annual Arts and Crafts Show at Indiana University Kokomo. The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kelley Student Center, Alumni Hall, and Hunt Hall.

About 90 crafters and artisans from around the state will be on hand to display and sell their wares – from folk art to holiday decorations, to baby clothes and even kettle corn. This year, almost half of the vendors are new to the show, bringing handcrafted items for children, woodcrafts, and caramel corn in a variety of flavors.

Each vendor has been hand-selected from a team of jurors on the IU Kokomo Staff Council to ensure quality items are featured.

Cathy Archer, staff council member, encourages everyone to support local crafters and save on time and gas by purchasing gifts at the show. Proceeds from booth rent will benefit a scholarship fund for IU Kokomo students.

There is no admission fee; however, attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food or other non-perishable item for the Kokomo Crisis Center. Parking is also free.

For more information, contact Cathy Archer at (765) 455-9426. For those who have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to make modifications or adjustments for most disabilities. Please contact the Office of Affirmative Action at (765) 455-9529.

Indiana University Kokomo serves a seven county, primary service area in north central Indiana. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four graduate degrees.
