KOKOMO, Ind.—From jazz and gospel to pop and rock, the a cappela singing of Chapter 6 appeals to many tastes. The group makes its second appearance at IU Kokomo this year Tuesday, September 23, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, inside the Kelley Student Center. The public is invited to attend the free concert. The six singers of Chapter 6 earned high praise for their original arrangements and close unaccompanied harmonies in a February concert at IU Kokomo. Chapter 6 won the 2000 Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes, making it the youngest group to ever qualify for the National Finals. The singers were crowned the 2001 International Collegiate A Cappella Grand Champions and their arranger Mark Grizzard tied himself for “Best Arrangement.” Appearing again at the 2002 Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes, Chapter 6 not only won the competition but also received awards for “Best Arrangement” and “Audience Favorite” for a second time. The group placed third in the National Harmony Sweepstakes that year. For additional information, contact the Student Union Board at (765) 455-9203.
