KOKOMO, Ind.—IU Kokomo has named William Yost to the new post of Vice Chancellor for Information Technology. Appointed on July 1, he holds this position in addition to his responsibilities as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. As Vice Chancellor for Information Technology (IT), Yost oversees campus use and infrastructure support of the Information Technology Department, Tech Fee support to student computing labs, all desktop computing, Web management, audio visual services, and classroom technology and telecommunications. Yost served as interim supervisor of IT services for the past two years. He reorganized the department so that “IT support professionals and staff function as a unit under Arif Khan (Director of Computing Services), directly increasing his responsibility and oversight under his present title,” Yost said. “Audio visual services continue to report directly to me as does telecommunications technology.” The department’s seven full-time staffers and other hourly personnel have improved management of computing labs and distribution of desktop units significantly, Yost said. The staff also successfully installed all software necessary for fall semester instruction and absorbed Continuing Education activities into the general computing labs, according to Yost. Yost serves on an IU Directors Council that meets monthly to discuss various IU information technology improvements and timelines for the university. “With the assignment, the Chancellor has initiated an advisory committee for information technology that will serve as a sounding board for planning various improvements and timetables for those improvements,” he said.
