KOKOMO, Ind.—Christopher Clemens has begun teaching communication arts and video production courses as a visiting lecturer for the Indiana University Kokomo School of Arts and Sciences. Clemens earned a Master of Fine Arts in Television Production from Brooklyn (N.Y.) College in 2004.

As a teaching assistant and instructor for Brooklyn College's Department of TV/Radio, Clemens covered a broad range of courses—studio and field production, broadcast journalism, advertising, comedy writing, and consumer behavior. The topics reflect the explosion of professional fields influenced by communication studies. “It's a trend to study communication arts, specifically TV production and film, before getting a Master of Business Administration degree, to be able to understand how to educate and influence the masses,” Clemens said. “Communication arts allows you to be academic and artistic at the same time.”

Clemens has extensive television and theatre experience, in both production and performance. He wrote, produced, and directed an original sitcom called Three To One for his master's degree thesis. He was executive producer/director for three shows on Brooklyn Cable News, and a camera operator, floor manager, writer, and editor for various productions aired on The City University of New York television station. He has provided video design for Brooklyn College's Gershwin Theatre and directed at New York City's Jan Hus Playhouse. Clemens has been active in musical theatre and voice performance since his undergraduate years at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
