Save gas with a hybrid class

September 21, 2006

KOKOMO, Ind.—“Save gas. Take a hybrid class at Indiana University Kokomo,” says Fred Hakes, director of the Division of Continuing Studies. Offered in the evening, hybrid classes require students to come to campus only one night a week.

Hybrid classes are part of the IU Kokomo’s ACCELerated Evening College. Students attend a two-hour class on one night a week for eight weeks and spend an additional two hours per week in online study and assignments, Hakes explained. “You can complete online work, from home or other off-campus sites at a time convenient for you.

“Because accelerated classes are only eight weeks long, students can save more gas and time—plus complete degrees more quickly—by taking two classes back-to-back in the regular 16-week semester.”

To learn more about taking a hybrid class, area adults are invited to attend IU Kokomo’s Adult Student Open House on Tuesday, October 10, 4–7 p.m. in Kelly Student Center. Representatives of all IU Kokomo academic programs will be present along with financial aid and admissions office staff. The open house will include a free light dinner and free parking.

To reserve your free dinner during the open house, register online at www.iuk.edu/openhouse or call (765) 455-9395.

Indiana University Kokomo is located west of U.S. 31 on the south side of Kokomo, Ind. From U.S. 31, turn west on Lincoln Road. Take Lincoln to Washington Street and turn right (north). The campus is on the east side Washington. Persons without campus parking passes should follow the signs for special event parking for the open house.
