Presenting "Africa Night"

Kokomo, IN—Lecturer J.R. Pico will present ‘Africa Night’ on Thursday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m. in room KO150 at Indiana University Kokomo. This cultural presentation about Pico’s volunteer experiences in Malawi, Africa, along with a display of paintings and wood art brought from Africa, is designed to educate the community about Africa and is open to the public at no charge.
Pico is a resident Spanish faculty member at IU Kokomo. He is a native of Colombia and has lived in the USA for 11 years now. During his 18-year career traversing six different countries, Pico has taught Spanish, French, and English as foreign languages at university and secondary levels. He holds a B.A. in Modern Languages, a M.S. in Computer Assisted Teaching, and a M.A. in Spanish and Literature. He has completed some graduate courses toward a doctorate in Spanish. He is currently working with a new local chapter "Abriendo Puertas" at Indiana University Kokomo.
