Indiana University Kokomo Education Students will host “Walk and Talk”
September 7, 2007
Kokomo, Indiana—On Saturday, September 22, from Noon to 4:00 p.m., young children and their parents are invited to visit sites around the city where approximately 65-70 Indiana University Kokomo Education students will host specific activities geared toward pre-school through third grade children. Some participating sites are Big Lots, Kroger, and Cossell’s Nursery on the south side of Kokomo. Children will be able to: write and draw their own story in the library, listen to stories, and enjoy a puppet show; draw, do origami, and sculpt with play-doh in the art gallery; and participate in Project Wild activities, music, singing, and movement in various locations throughout the Kelley Center. A healthy snack will be provided in the IU Kokomo cafeteria, and activity sheets, specific to each site, will be distributed to parents and guardians. Educational materials will be provided by Marilyn Skinner, Director of the Center for Early Childhood Education at IU Kokomo.
Indiana University Kokomo serves an 11 county area in north central Indiana. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four master’s degrees.
