Weather-Related Campus Closing Procedures (Revised: Fall 2004)
Radio and television station listings
The Vice Chancellor on call will follow the following decision-making timeframe in conjunction with the Chancellor, Physical Plant Director, and Director of Safety and Security. Under extreme circumstances and in the interest of safety, the administration may alter this procedure. Cancellation of classes includes all IU and Purdue classes on the IU Kokomo campus, as well as all auxiliary sites.
- 5:30 a.m. — Campus closed all day and evening.
- 9:30 a.m. — Classes beginning at or after 11:30 a.m. are canceled; campus offices close at noon.
- 3:30 p.m. — Classes beginning at or after 5:30 p.m. are canceled.
The Vice Chancellor on call will
- notify director of Communications & Marketing
- notify director of Purdue programs
- e-mail faculty, staff, adjunct, hourly employees, and Purdue University
The Vice Chancellor for Student Services will e-mail IU Kokomo students. In the event that the Vice Chancellor for Student Services is unavailable, the Registrar will e-mail students.
Director of Communications & Marketing will
- notify campus Web manager to post crawl on IU Kokomo Web site
- notify all identified radio and television stations of closing
When the campus is closed, only “essential personnel” (as identified by human resources) should remain on campus.
