OneStart is a Web-based application portal that provides a common front door to online services at all IU campuses. OneStart offers easier and more direct access to many services available for students. With OneStart, you can register for classes, review your grades and academic transcript, and check your financial aid status.
If you have been away for two or more semesters you will have to be reactivated. Please click here for more information.
Meningitis
Indiana state law requires Indiana University to inform enrolled students of the risks associated with meningococcal disease and the benefits of immunization. All students registered at IU Kokomo must acknowledge they understand the risks of the bacterial infection meningitis by completing the immunization compliance form on the Self Service page in OneStart (requires an IU Network ID).
The American College Health Association (ACHA) recommends that students consider vaccination to reduce their risk for potentially fatal meningococcal disease. ACHA suggests the following students should be immunized:
Entering college students, particularly those living in dormitories or residence halls, who elect to decrease their risk for meningococcal disease.
Non-pregnant undergraduate students 25 years of age or under requesting vaccination in order to decrease their risk for disease.
Students with medical conditions that compromise immunity (e.g., HIV, absent spleen, antibody deficiency).
Students traveling to areas of the world where meningococcal disease is more common.

If you are interested in vaccination, contact your family physician. The cost of vaccination is approximately $100 (April 2005).
Reserves Called to Active Duty
IU Kokomo realizes students who are members of the Indiana military reserves may be called to active duty. The Reserves Called to Active Duty Policy minimizes disruptions or inconveniences for students fulfilling their military responsibilities.
Residency Status
Because IU is a state-funded public university, in-state and out-of-state students pay different rates for tuition. The rules for determining residence are established by the Trustees of Indiana University. The initial determination of a student's residency status is made at the time of admission. If the student is found to be a nonresident and wishes to appeal the decision, the student should contact the Office of the Registrar for an Application for Classification as a Resident Student.
Students initially classified as nonresidents who have since lived in Indiana for 12 months and believe themselves otherwise eligible for resident status will need to submit an Application for Classification as a Resident Student. Our systems do not automatically make the change 12 months after initial enrollment.
For further information, review the rules for residency and the classification application:
