Maters of Public Management
By Cohort Program
The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Kokomo’s Master of Public Management (MPM) cohort program is designed for adult professionals currently working in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. The MPM cohort program provides managers in these sectors the skills to cope with challenging human and technical issues. The MPM cohort program consists of a group of students who attend together all of the required courses leading to the master of public management degree. Students in the MPM cohort program benefit from networking and bonding with one another during the course of their 15 months program. The MPM cohort program focuses on practical issues faced by managers as well as provides a broad interdisciplinary background in the values and ethics of public management. It is designed as preparation for executive leadership position in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
Locations: Each cohort student attends classes at the Indiana University Kokomo campus. Cohort classes are scheduled in the evenings or on Saturday mornings depending on the program to accommodate working students' schedules. Each course is offered for 4 weeks. Classes are offered on Friday from 6pm to 10pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon and 3 hours online each week.
Faculty: Ninety-five percent of cohort classes are taught by full-time IU Kokomo SPEA faculty, and the remaining courses are taught by practitioners in the field who are specialists in the topics they teach.
Cohort Openings: The School of Public and Environmental Affairs’ cohort programs provide students with a unique opportunity to build relationships throughout the course of their study together. Once a cohort is formed, the students remain together for the duration of their degree program. New students are not admitted to a cohort after it begins, but they may join newly forming cohorts.
