Indiana University Appropriate Technology Use Policies
"Use of Indiana University technology resources (computing, networks, phones, etc.) is restricted to purposes related to the university's mission of education, research, and public service. Access to IU technology resources is a privilege granted to all university faculty, staff, and students in support of their studies, instruction, duties as employees, official business with the university, and other university-sanctioned activities. Access may also be granted to individuals outside of Indiana University for purposes consistent with the mission of the university. However, sponsorship of these accounts and their activities by a faculty member or university administrator is required. Requests for such access should be directed to the Information Technology Policy Office, Office of the Vice President for Information Technology, accompanied by the reason for the access and the name and contact information of the sponsor."
The policies labeled "Interim" below will be cited and are being enforced, though they have not yet been formally and fully adopted. They cover areas in which no clear policies previously existed, and are necessary to ensure appropriate use and protections related to University technology resources. These policies may be changed periodically as comments are received.
