- 1820 Indiana University is founded in Bloomington
- 1932 Kokomo Junior College begins offering a basic, two-year colligate program
- 1945 Indiana University establishes an extension center in the former Kokomo Junior College building at 508 West Taylor Street. Dr. Virgil Hunt served as the first director
- 1947 Due to soaring enrollment at the West Taylor Street location, the university purchases the Seiberling-Kingston mansion at 1200 West Sycamore as an expansion to their facilities
- 1956 Dr. Smith Higgins takes over as IU Kokomo director
- 1959 Dr. Victor M. Bogle becomes the new director
- 1965 IU Kokomo moves to the new campus built on the 57-acre South Washington Street site
- 1967 IU Kokomo begins offering an Associate of Science in Nursing
- 1970 Associate degrees in nursing and radiological technology as well as bachelor's degrees in education were awarded at IU Kokomo's first commencement
- 1980 Dr. Hugh L. Thompson becomes the chancellor
- 1980 The East Building opens
- 1985 The Observatory, which includes a 96-seat lecture hall opens
- 1989 Kelley Student Center is completed. The building, and the attached classroom wing, contains offices, classrooms, student lounges, a cafeteria, a child care center, and a campus bookstore
- 1990 Dr. Emita B. Hill becomes chancellor
- 1995 The new library opens in January. The new building includes the 200-seat Kresge Auditorium and the Art Gallery. The Library Building is connected to Kelley Student Center by Alumni Hall
- 2001 Hunt Hall, a state-of-the-art science facility, opens, offering classrooms, laboratories, administrative and faculty offices
- 2010 The Fine Arts Building, once a U.S. Post Office, is renamed. This facility includes classroom and studio space
- 2011 Intercollegiate athletics launched with men’s basketball and women’s volleyball
11 new degree programs are launched
Nursing Simulation Lab opened in East Building - 2012 IUK becomes member of the NAIA and adds men’s and women’s cross country
