Minors in the Division of Allied Health Sciences

Passionate about sports? Know your true calling is to work in nutrition? Want to be a mentor in someone’s life through coaching? Whatever your goal is for the future, adding one of the available minors in the Division of Allied Health Sciences at Indiana University Kokomo to your course of study is an excellent way to tailor your knowledge and experience. Choosing a minor can help you specialize your studies, allowing you to take several classes within a single concentrated field to deepen your understanding.  

The purpose of the 15-credit-hour nutritional science minor is to provide students with knowledge to:
(a) make informed nutrition choices,

(b) educate others about proper nutrition,

(c) understand the community health systems and governmental agencies that provide nutritional sustenance for those who cannot afford it, and

(d) interpret labels according to FDA guidelines.

The minor is open to any current IU Kokomo student who has a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. It is also open to graduates and community members who have a B.A. or B.S. degree with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Please note: This minor is not available to health science students who have a concentration in nutritional sciences.

The 18-credit-hour coaching minor is designed for students who are interested in coaching youth, adolescent, or adult athletes. The goal of the minor is to provide students with the necessary theoretical and practical skills to engage in coaching after graduation. The minor is open to any current IU Kokomo student who has a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. It is also open to graduates and community members who have a B.A. or B.S. degree with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. 

The 18-credit-hour sport marketing and management minor provides students with a foundational understanding of sport management theory, and how sport marketing activities and strategies contribute to sport business success. Upon completion of the minor, students will be able to apply sport marketing and management theory to identify opportunities and solve problems faced by sport organizations in a variety of contexts. The minor is open to all current IU Kokomo students who have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. It is also open to graduates and community members who have a B.A. or B.S. degree with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
