Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Accounting

If you’re looking to make a transition into a C.P.A. role, you’ll be interested in the Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Accounting at Indiana University Kokomo.

In this program, you’ll work closely with our outstanding faculty. You’ll be challenged, you’ll grow, and when you graduate, you know you’ll be ready to take the next step. When you graduate from this program, you will be prepared to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination. 

  1. An earned bachelor's degree
  2. Admission as a regular student to IU Kokomo

To earn the Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Accounting, you must:

  1. Complete the 54 credit hours listed below with at least 24 hours completed at IU Kokomo
  2. Take a minimum of 18 credit hours must be completed post-baccalaureate level
  3. Complete all courses with a minimum grade of C (including courses accepted for transfer credit)
  4. Attain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 based on all 54 credit hours (including courses accepted for transfer credit)

The following 30 credit hours are required:

  • BUS-A 201 Introduction to Financial Accounting (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 202 Introduction to Managerial Accounting (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 311 Intermediate Accounting I (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 312 Intermediate Accounting II (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 325 Cost Accounting (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 328 Introduction to Taxation (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 337 Accounting Information Systems (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 339 Advanced Income Taxes (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 422 Advanced Financial Accounting (3 cr.)
  • BUS-A 424 Auditing and Assurance Services (3 cr.)

More Information

  • Students can receive credit for required courses (or their equivalents) that were completed with their bachelor's degree.
  • M.B.A. students can receive credit for equivalent non-accounting courses that were completed with their master's degree.
  • BUKO-D 542 Advanced Managerial Accounting, will be considered the equivalent of A 202 and A 325.
