March 13 Update

This will be my last message for the week. I hope you have a great weekend and spring break. Thank you for all of your work! It has been quite a week!

  • President McRobbie sent out a message late this afternoon and noted that IU has amended its travel policy to require self-quarantine for 14 days only by travelers returning from countries under a CDC Level 3 warning. This applies to China, Iran, South Korea, and the 26 European countries in the Schengen Area. Yesterday the policy included all international travel.
  • In addition, effective immediately, all IU study abroad programs that are scheduled to begin on or before May 15th have been canceled. Programs scheduled after May 15 are being evaluated for possible rescheduling or cancellation.
  • All campus fitness centers will be closed through April 5.
  • Our spring sports have been canceled until the end of the month.

Tips for using Zoom inclusively

  1. You can include your Zoom room phone number as well as the link to offer students an option to connect by phone.
  2. You can record your Zoom sessions and upload the recording to Canvas for all students to access.

All of this and more is included in the Zoom: Teaching Remotely sessions.

IU Learning Technologies adding more Keep Teaching Webinars

Due to the large number of participants in the first Keep Teaching webinars, we have added additional webinars beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. The webinars will be covering the basics of using these tools and targeted for faculty who are completely new to the online environment or need a refresher.
