Four years of hard work. Late nights studying and plenty of sacrifices. All in the name of earning your IU degree. And now? It’s time to celebrate. Join us for Indiana University’s Kokomo’s 50th Commencement where we celebrate you and your achievement.

  • Doors open at 11 a.m.
  • Graduates must arrive by 11 a.m. and will robe in the Lucas Furniture & Mattress Warehouse at the Event Center. You will find your designated area and will robe in your Commencement regalia with your fellow graduates. Please avoid bringing valuables with you.
  • If a student loses their tickets, they will not be given extra tickets.
  • If there are any remaining tickets after distribution, students will be able to receive one (1) additional ticket on a first come, first serve basis during the week of April 29.
  • Tickets will be required for Commencement due to limited seating
  • Unlimited parking available on campus with shuttle service to the Event & Conference Center
  • Parking is limited at the Event & Conference Center
  • The procession begins promptly at 12:45 p.m.
  • Guests must be seated by 12:30 p.m.

Graduates, please limit your number of guests who attend Commencement to four or fewer. Please ask your guests to arrive early, as doors open at 11:00 a.m. Once seating at the event center is full, guests will be directed to campus where they can watch the live stream.

If you do not have a ticket, you are welcome to watch the live stream on campus.

We strongly encourage additional family and friends to attend the live streaming of Commencement on campus on the IQ Wall in the Kelley Student Center cafeteria or in KC 130. They will be able to join you at the reception immediately following Commencement in Alumni Hall.

Commencement will be live streamed so that anyone can watch from anywhere. The live webcast will begin streaming when the ceremony begins and can be viewed from the IU Kokomo website at the following address:

Graduation Photo

During the ceremony, you will receive congratulations from IU Kokomo Chancellor Susan Sciame-Giesecke. A professional photographer will capture this important moment in a photo. The photographer will contact you about obtaining a proof of the photo and ordering information a few weeks after Commencement.


The Office of the Registrar will notify you when your diploma will be available. August graduates will not receive their diplomas until all academic requirements have been completed.

IU Diploma Frames

Display your diploma with pride in a walnut frame with a crimson matte and the IU seal embossed in gold. Frames are available to purchase online at or in the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on the IU Kokomo campus.

Cap & Gown Distribution

You will pick up your cap and gown in the campus bookstore on April 22-25, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. You will return your rental unit following the Commencement ceremony in your respective changing area at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center. If you return to campus after the ceremony, gowns may also be returned at the campus bookstore.

Each year, we celebrate our graduating seniors! We want to treat you and your graduating classmates to a semi-formal evening of fellowship, a free meal and desserts, and the opportunity to make lasting memories and win fantastic door prizes.

Semi-formal or come as you are.

This event will also include a Graduation Cap Runway, allowing students to bring their decorated graduation caps for judging on a runway to win additional prizes! We strongly encourage you to bring your decorated cap on this night!
