The DAISY Award is an international recognition program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Pat's family experienced first-hand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care. The family created The DAISY Award to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.

Please visit DAISYFoundation.org to learn more about Pat's story and how The DAISY Award recognizes Extraordinary Nurses.

The Faculty Award was created to recognize and celebrate the contributions faculty make to the future of nursing. The intent is to honor nursing faculty who inspire their students to always remember that nursing is much more than tasks and technology. Outstanding nursing faculty help ensure the art as well as the science of nursing are brought to every patient experience. It is our sincere hope that recognition of nursing faculty will help sustain faculty's commitment to teaching our next generation of nurses.

We are looking to honor Indiana University Kokomo nursing faculty members who:

  • Serve as role models and mentors for professional nursing,
  • Demonstrate innovative teaching and learning strategies that engage, inspire, and motivate students,
  • Demonstrate interest in and respect for learners using personal attributes like caring, confidence, patience, integrity, and flexibility to facilitate professional growth,
  • Are fair and unbiased in their treatment of individual students,
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills,
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with students and colleagues, and/or
  • Contribute in extraordinary ways to students or campus.

Share your story of how an IU Kokomo nursing faculty member has made a difference in your life or the life of someone you know.
