The Testing Center is currently open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the uncertainty revolving around COVID-19, testing space is limited and safety protocols are in place. If you need to make up a classroom exam or have accessibility needs related to testing, please connect with your instructor to discuss a plan.
The Testing Center is operated by the Office of Student Success & Advising and is located in the Kelley Student Center, Room 250.
The Testing Center is limited in the types of exams we can offer this semester. Please contact the Testing Center at 765-455-9395 or testcent@iuk.edu for guidance.
Prospective students needing to take an admissions exam will be notified via the Office of Admissions.
This exam will take approximately one hour to complete and test scores are sent directly to the Office of Admissions for review and consideration.
Accuplacer Reading Comprehension Practice QuestionsPrior to registering in their first mathematics course at IU Kokomo, all entering freshman students are required to complete a proctored ALEKS mathematics placement assessment for appropriate course placement.
Students transferring to IU Kokomo who need a mathematics course will also be required to take the mathematics placement exam unless they have transfer credit for a college level mathematics course equivalent to a course offered at IU Kokomo, and no more than two years has elapsed since their last mathematics enrollment.
Non-Indiana University dual-credit mathematics courses taken in high school will not exempt students who need further mathematics courses from taking the mathematics placement exam.
Students who have earned an AP Calculus score of 3 or higher within the past two years do not need to take the ALEKS placement assessment. Any exceptions will be made by the advisor in consultation with the mathematics faculty.
Students are allowed three hours to complete this exam.
ALEKS Math Placement FAQStudents must speak with their instructor about making up any missed exams. The student will then schedule a date and time with the Testing Center by calling (765) 455-9395 or emailing testcent@iuk.edu at least two business days prior to the desired testing date.
All accessibility testing requires prior approval through the Office of Career Services and Accessibility.
Students with approval please be sure to let your instructor know prior to the student scheduling any testing.
Reduced Distraction Room or Scribe/Reader Tests: We requires an two business day notice prior to testing date to accommodate. It is the student's responsibility to contact the Accessibility Center at least two weeks prior to testing to prearrange a scribe/reader.
Students may take a Spanish language exam to determine proper placement. This placement exam is designed for students who have had previous instruction in Spanish and wish to continue their language study in this area. If you plan to start with the beginning class at IU Kokomo, you do not need to take the Spanish language placement exam.
Students will see their score and placement immediately upon completion of the exam. Within two business days, students will also receive an email from the IU Kokomo Testing Center containing their score report and official results letter. The student’s advisor(s) will also be attached to this email.
This exam will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete.

Results are viewable to student immediately, and the official results are sent to IU Kokomo within 2-3 weeks.
Student are allotted two hours to complete the exam.

May Graduates - April 1st
August Graduates - July 1st
December Graduates - November 1st

Testing Guidelines
Student guidelines for taking an exam in the Testing Center:
- Schedule your testing appointment at least two business days in advance.
- You must bring a photo ID each time you take a test.
- You should arrive at least five minutes prior to the start time of your scheduled test.
- If you are more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled test, you will not be permitted to test on that date. You will need approval from your instructor to reschedule your exam.
- All tests are considered completed once you leave the testing area.
- Please leave all personal items, if not needed to test, in your car. Small cubbies are also available to store these items.
- Children, parents, or friends are not allowed in the testing area during the exam.
- Food and beverages are not permitted unless the Testing Center has received written documentation from the Accessibility Center that you are approved to test with these items.

Accommodations: Please see the Accessibility Center for any accommodations prior to scheduling your testing. If any problems occurred with accommodations, they must be reported to the Testing Center Staff and/or Accessibility Coordinator within 48 hours after the test has taken place.
