Online Course Development Stipend

• I agree to earn the “Basic Online Development “certificate through the Center for Teaching and Learning. This professional development provides the foundation for online course design. Certificates can be earned by participating in specific CTLA training events. Only those who have not completed the certificate in the past are required to complete this training. View requirements for completing certificates.
• I agree to earn the “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” certificate. This all-day workshop is offered each semester at no cost to me at the IU Kokomo Campus. If I am unable to attend during this time frame, I will travel to IU Bloomington, IUPUI, or another IU regional campus with my own funds to attend one of their workshops. Only those who have not completed the training in the past are required to complete this training. To locate the next available workshop, view the CTLA on campus schedule.
• I agree that my course will use Canvas as the Learning Management System.
• I agree to develop a fully online (Online All) course that does not require students to be in a physical location in order to complete course requirements.
• I understand that I am responsible for creating all digital course elements; this includes creating a personal and course introduction, assembling readings, creating video content, developing assignments and activities, creating assessments, and ensuring learner interaction.
• I agree to submit a series of artifacts (outlined below) a minimum of 12 weeks before the course is taught.
• I agree to submit an internal peer review of my course design based on the Quality Matters rubric a minimum of six weeks before the course start date (with 90% of the course completed).
• I agree to make revisions as per recommended by the peer review team.
• I agree to regularly communicate my course design progress with my dean and with the assigned peer review team.
• I understand that this stipend constitutes “Exceptional University Support” for the creation of Online Instructional materials, in line with Indiana University Policy UA-05, Definition. As such, this course is a University Work, and I am a Creator under the intellectual property policy.
• I understand that this course must be on a current or upcoming Schedule of Classes in order for this contract to be considered fulfilled.
• I understand that this stipend is compensation for developing the course and its materials in Canvas. Compensation for instructing the course is outside of this agreement.

Payment #1: $500 (to be completed at least 12 weeks prior to start of course)

• Certificate in Basic Online Course Development
• Certificate in Applying the Quality Matters Rubric
• A fully developed syllabus that satisfactorily includes:
  • Measurable learning outcomes
  • How students will communicate with me
  • Netiquette expectations
  • Grading turnaround times
  • Course policies
• A Canvas Module containing the following items:
  • An introductory video to create faculty presence
  • One audiovisual content item for replacing a face-to-face lecture
  • One fully developed interactive student assignment or activity

All these items must be completed and submitted to receive Payment #1.

Payment #2: $1,000 (to be completed at least six weeks prior to start of course)

• CTLA 90-minute review to examine measurable learning objectives, alignment, accessibility, etc.
• Meet CTLA Recommendations before submitting course to peer review team for QM Internal Review (90% of course complete)
• Payment is issued on completion of the QM Internal Review.

All these items must be completed to receive Payment #2.

Payment #3: $500 (to be completed by end of course)

• Successful Internal QM Review (all revisions noted by peer review team completed).

You will not receive Payment #3 until you have MET & completed the Internal QM Review and taught the course one time.
