With new regulations from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), high school teachers are required to hold a master’s degree in the field or a master’s degree plus 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in a specific discipline. This program can help you prepare to teach dual-credit courses or it can help you to teach at a community college.
Degree Requirements
After taking 34-36 credits in this program, you’ll walk away from this program with advanced skills and knowledge in your field and an ability to approach problems and challenges with an interdisciplinary perspective. To earn the Master of Liberal Studies, the requirements are:
- Core courses (13 credit hours)
- Electives/certificates (12-20 credit hours)
- Capstone experience (3-9 credit hours)
Please note: This program allows students to transfer up to 20 previously earned credits from IU graduate certificate programs. Students who have earned credits from a different accredited college or university may transfer up to 6 credits.
